It is finally here, that wonderful first day of the New Year. I truly plan for this day. Looking forward to staying home all day I cherish cleaning the house, cooking comfort food, watching the Rose bowl Parade and HGTV while snuggling on the couch with my husband Greg, Shayna, our (three year old) wanna be puppy and 24 year old Calico Snuggies. The telephone rings constantly with well wishes from family and friends. Reflecting on how fortunate we are is something we should do every day of our lives but it is especially important today as we plan for the excitement of another year. As much as we are totally wallowing in our surroundings it is hard for us to take a day away our new love – the Gallery. Since opening the doors a little over one year ago the gallery has become not just an avenue to showcase the fabulous arts and crafts of many talented individuals but also a home to nurture the mind body and souls of the daily guests.
This New Year at the Gallery is so exciting I hardly know where to begin. As I look to my left I see the January/February issue of St. Louis Homes and Lifestyles magazine. Page 24 features the so very talented and charming Leslie Faust. We have been so fortunate to have Leslie as a big part of the Gallery’s journey. Leslie has contributed greatly in leading us down an equestrian trail. We have met many wonderful people that are now a big part of our 2009 events and growth thanks to Leslie. It is hard to be brief but I will try as I review many of the exciting events and programs of this wonderful New Year.

Despite the downturn in the economy the City of Eureka is working very hard to develop the Old Towne of Eureka into an Artist Community. The Eureka Parks Department has secured a large grant to fund the development of walking and bike trails. A new Economic Growth and Development Director is on board with the City and creating a lot of excitement as we work towards becoming a historic district and the development of “First Fridays in the Park in Eureka”. Beginning with March 6th the Gallery will begin our own “First Fridays of the Month” with a reception for the Muddy River Arts Juried Pottery Exhibit – check your email and snail mail as we progress with this event and more exciting things at Harvest Arts Gallery!!
